ANGEL'S CALL

The shore is safer, but I like to fight the waves.

Emilia Dickinson

Mobile phone?

At first, you don’t see much benefit from it, but in order not to seem completely antediluvian, you start using the simplest model with the usual basic package of functions. At first, you are sometimes surprised by those who speak too loudly in a restaurant, on a train, or on a café terrace. But this really turns out to be very convenient - because you can always keep your family and friends within earshot.

And now, like everyone else, you have already learned how to write text messages by typing them on a tiny keyboard, and now you send them every now and then from everywhere. Like everyone else, you abandoned your planner, replacing it with an electronic version. Once you've mastered the apps, you've entered the phone numbers of your friends, your family, and your lover into the directory. There you also camouflaged the names of your exes, as well as the credit card PIN code, which you constantly forget.

You now use your mobile phone even to take photographs, albeit not of very good quality. It's so great to always have a funny picture with you to show your colleagues.

Everyone around is doing the same thing. The mobile phone has become a thing of the era, blurring the lines between personal, professional and social life. After all, in everyday reality, everything has become so urgent, so fluid, and this requires constant juggling of your plans and schedules.

* * *

And recently you replaced your old device with a more advanced model: a little miracle that allows you not only to access your mail, but also to browse Internet sites and download hundreds of necessary applications.

And that's how you became connected. The mobile phone has become like an extension of you, accompanying you even in the bathroom or toilet. You rarely go at least half an hour without glancing at the screen, checking missed calls, or responding to an intimate or friendly message. And if your mailbox is empty, you still press buttons to make sure mail isn't on hold.

The phone protects you the way a blanket protected you in childhood: its screen is so soft, so calming, like a sleeping pill. It gives you confidence in any situation, gives you the ability to instantly establish the right contact, which opens up a lot of opportunities for you...

* * *

But one evening, returning home, after searching all your pockets and bags, you suddenly realize that your mobile phone has disappeared. Lost? Stolen? No, you refuse to believe it. You check everything again, but to no avail, and then you begin to convince yourself that you simply forgot your mobile phone in the office, but... No, you remember very well that you used it in the elevator, having already left work, and - probably - in the subway too, and on the bus.

At first you are angry about losing your phone, and then you praise yourself: after all, you are insured against “theft/loss/breakage,” which means that tomorrow you can get a new high-tech toy.

However, at three o’clock in the morning you realize that you still couldn’t fall asleep...

* * *

You get up quietly so as not to wake the person sleeping next to you.

In the kitchen, on the top shelf of the cabinet, you find an old pack of cigarettes, which you hid there as an emergency. You light one, followed by a glass of vodka.

You are sitting bent over on a chair. You are cold: you had to leave the window open to let the smell of cigarettes disappear.

You're trying to remember what was in the lost phone: videos, about fifty photos, messages, your address (including the code for the building's front door), your parents' address, numbers of people who weren't necessarily there, messages that suggest What…

No need to be paranoid!

Another puff and another sip of alcohol.

Apparently there is nothing really incriminating there, but you know very well that appearances are deceiving.

What worries you is that your device could fall into the wrong hands.

And now you already regret some photographs, several letters and conversations. Past, family, money, sex... Having searched well, the one who wants to harm you will find something that will be enough to ruin your life. You have regrets, but those regrets are meaningless.

A shiver runs through you and you have to get up to close the window. Pressing your forehead against the glass, you watch the rare lights that still shine in the night, telling you that on the other side of the city there is a person looking through your phone and delving into your private life with delight, methodically trying to find your little ones in the depths of the device. dirty secrets.

And then what?

Then Rafael gave me a diamond ring from Tiffany and asked me to become his wife.

With the phone glued to her ear, Madeleine walked along the tall shop windows that reached right up to the asphalt. Five thousand kilometers away, in her flat in north London, her best friend listened eagerly to a detailed account of her romantic adventures in the Big Apple.

He really got you into the big game! - Juliana noted. - A weekend in Manhattan, a room at the Waldorf-Astoria, a carriage ride, a proposal in the best traditions...

Yes,” Madeleine replied. - Everything was perfect, just like in the movies.

Maybe a little too perfect, no? - Juliana teased her.

Can you explain to me how something can be “too” perfect, Miss Skeptic?

Juliana clumsily tried to correct herself:

I meant it wasn't unexpected. New York, Tiffany, a walk in the snow and an ice skating rink in Central Park... It's expected, you might even say it's a cliché!

Madeleine did not remain in debt:

If I remember correctly, Wayne asked you to marry him when you were coming back from the pub after drinking. The pub was packed like a subway at rush hour, and he threw up in the toilet right after he asked for your hand in marriage, didn't he?

Okay, you win this round. - Juliana had nothing to object to.

Madeline smiled as she approached the arrivals area, trying to find Rafael among the crowd. At the beginning of the Christmas holidays, thousands of tourists gathered in the terminal, which was buzzing like an agitated beehive. Some were hurrying to their families, others were hurrying to the other side of the world, to paradise, away from the grayness of New York.

“Listen,” Juliana continued, “but you didn’t tell me what your answer was.”

Are you joking? I said yes, of course!

And you didn't even torture him a little?

Tormented? Jewel, I'm almost thirty-four years old! Don't you think I've waited long enough? I like Rafael, we have been together for two years and are now trying to have a child. In a few weeks we will move into our home that we chose together. Juliana, for the first time in my life I feel protected and happy.

You say that because he is nearby, don't you?

No! - Madeline exclaimed, laughing. - He went to check our luggage. I say this because I really mean it! - She stopped at a newsstand. Tightly folded stacks of newspapers bristled with images of a world rushing along with the current: economic crisis, unemployment, political scandals, social conflicts, environmental disasters...

Aren't you afraid that with Rafael your life will be predictable? - Juliana struck.

It's not a problem! - Madeline answered. - I needed someone solid, reliable, faithful. After all, everything around us is so unstable, fragile and shaky. I don't want that in my marriage. I want to return home in the evening and be sure that I will find peace and tranquility there. You understand?

Hmm... - Juliana responded.

No "hmms", Jewel. Better go, start walking around the shops, choose a dress - you should be a bridesmaid!

Hmm,” the young Englishwoman nevertheless repeated, but this time more to hide her excitement than to demonstrate her skepticism.

Madeleine looked at her watch. Behind her, on the runway, silver planes were waiting their turn to take off.

Okay, I'll leave you alone, my flight leaves at 5:30 pm and I haven't gotten my...my husband yet!

Title: Call of an Angel

About the book “The Call of an Angel” by Guillaume Musso

The book “An Angel Calls” is a whimsical story, throughout which the main characters will constantly solve each other’s riddles. This work mixed elements of a detective story, a psychological drama, a love story and a bit of a philosophical touch. This book will be interesting to read for all fans of action-packed novels, where new intrigue awaits around every turn.

On the first pages of the work, you come across a non-trivial incident, which marked the beginning of the fascinating adventures of the main characters: Jonathan and Madeline, accidentally colliding at the airport, drop their phones and get confused in the confusion (this is not surprising, since they were the same model).

The confusion was revealed when each of them arrived at their homes: Madeleine in Paris, Jonathan in San Francisco. The main characters agreed to send each other what they had lost, but curiosity got the better of them: each of them began to study the phone number of their new friend. As you know, modern phones keep many secrets and intimate things; they can tell almost everything about their owners. This happened in this case too. What made Jonathan immediately take a ticket and fly to New York again, you will find out if you decide to read the novel to the end.

Guillaume Musso created a real kaleidoscope of mysteries, solving which the main characters travel almost all over the world. However, the most important meeting takes place in snowy New York. That's when all the puzzles are placed in the right order. In addition to the life stories of Jonathan and Madeline, pages from the lives of other characters flash before the reader, directly or indirectly related to the main characters. There was a place for crime, brutal violence, reckless love, mafia antics, and other dramatic elements.

Guillaume Musso wrote a stunning canvas, where every event has a “double bottom”, and it is not possible to get to the bottom of the truth right away. Amazing interweaving of destinies, emotions and characters, love and betrayal, losses and victories, suffering and happy moments - this is all life in its true form. Each story is an impetus for philosophical reflection, a kind of reassessment of values for the reader.

The language of the book “An Angel's Call” is easy and figurative. It exudes a kind of softness, as if Guillaume Musso is hypnotizing the reader, inviting him to plunge into this wonderful world. The interesting epigraphs with which the author decorated his work reveal the philosophical power and depth of the novel to the maximum.

    Rated the book

“If she had come to the cafe half a minute earlier or later, they would never have met. This was destined for them from above. Ironically, it happened that they became close at a crucial moment. It was the call of an angel, as her grandmother used to say..."

I decided to re-read Musso’s book. And if before I didn’t like it at all, and it seemed to me that with this book I was disappointed in the author, now reading was much easier and more interesting. Although I still can’t say that I was delighted with the novel.

Madeleine and Jonathan accidentally ran into each other at the airport. They might never have met again if not for one circumstance: without knowing it, they exchanged their phone numbers and discovered this only when each was at home: Madeleine in Paris, and Jonathan in San Francisco. Of course, the story could end with them mailing their phones. But instead, everyone decides to rummage through someone else's phone. And they understand that their meeting is not an accident, and they have a lot in common.

To be honest, I’m already tired of writing about this myself, but again the heroes are gnawed by the secrets of the past, because of which it is difficult for them to live in the present, there are definitely people who live in the ghetto, but thanks to their formidable intelligence and talent they get out of there, etc. .P. The author does not change his style. But when reading this book, the only thing that comes to mind is Stanislavsky’s famous expression “I don’t believe it!”

The beginning of the novel was promising, and everything went very well. An intriguing plot, bright characters, funny dialogues, and it was interesting to know what would happen next. But as soon as everything came to Madeleine’s secrets, to which Jonathan was also related, real nonsense began. Yes, and Jonathan's secret was sucked out of thin air. An absolutely unbelievable story. The author's detective story turned out very poorly. I like that Musso's novels cannot be called purely women's novels; he tries to diversify his stories with different styles. And in this novel, the author also tried to mix several styles; it is, of course, interesting to read, but it is simply impossible not to find fault with the plot, where the author used various clichés. In a word, too much!

But what irritated me most in the novel was the relationship between Madeline and Jonathan. All these pretentious expressions: “looking at her photograph, he tried to look into her soul,” “he realized that she had many secrets, just like him,” etc. Well, I don’t believe in such shamanistic things that at first glance he and she understood what kind of people they were, what tormented them, talked as if they knew everything about each other, considered themselves created for each other, etc. Alone, for the sake of a woman he didn’t know, abandoned his son on the holidays in order to find her and reveal Alice’s secret with her. The other one left her fiancé for someone unknown. I didn’t believe in their love, which came from nowhere. And sometimes Madeline was very infuriated, a kind of battle-woman.

And these twins Johnny and Doyle simply caused laughter. Indian cinema, by God. One, of course, is a bad brother, cruel. The other one is no better, but in comparison with him is not so ruthless, there is still something humane left in him, behind this stone mask hides a sensitive soul, a creative nature. While reading, I remembered: “I am a wild ghost, but very cute.”

And about the situation with the girl named Alice - maybe I'm being too harsh, but I don't believe that a young woman is ready to give up her future life just because she couldn't save a girl she never knew . But since Musso’s heroes are too sensitive and have superpowers, they understand from one photograph that they are connected by the closest connection and they are kindred spirits, they see themselves in them and blah blah blah. Honestly, I'm tired of it. Terribly pretentious. Despite the fact that the author wanted to make his plot original and tried to make everything look like in thrillers, everything turned out terribly snotty. It turned out to be such a primitive action movie. It doesn’t seem like fantasy, but there’s nothing realistic here.

There is absolutely no thought in the novel that one could think about. The novel has absolutely no appeal. Although the abstract is attractive, and the beginning was quite intriguing, but, alas, after the hundredth page all the charm of the book disappears.

The advantage of the book is that it is very easy and quick to read. You don't notice how time flies. The language of the novel is, of course, primitive, pretentious, and the plot is far-fetched, but you can read it at once to while away the evening. But the ending turned out to be somewhat crumpled, it seems that the author himself was tired of writing his book, and therefore questions arise. I think the film would have been great and quite likely to have been a success.

Although I love Musso, I say goodbye to him! And I'm taking a break for a whole year. I will return to his books only in 2017. I will have time to miss his work.

    Rated the book

The authors choose some strange variations to guide the reader to the rationale for the book's title. If a man passionately desires a woman and feels that he has known her all his life, then this is the “call of an angel.” With the same success, the book could be called absolutely anything and served with any sauce. And for the umpteenth time in the book, the plot follows the principle “Russia is the most terrible country.” Well, why, like a crime, is it immediately the Russian mafia, why not the Chinese, why not the Africans, but the Russians? Forgive me, but here it is clearly visible that the person has seen enough of the TV series “Spooks”, otherwise he would not have started spouting characteristic words taken from there. Just as I was furious that the author was “crashed” to talk about the women’s menstrual calendar and dates of possible conception. Of course, I understand that the phrase was dropped by the heroine, but not to the same extent! You will talk about such things with your husband/fiancé/boyfriend, but with a stranger.... And many other things surprised me, which will be discussed below.

The book is interesting, the detective story and love story here are very good, but the details... Excuse me, but they are just complete clichés. If this is a female investigator, then she definitely needs to be sexy and agree to everything. At the same time, she should be able to kick down doors, despite the fact that there is a pumped-up and strong man next to her, and it would be easier to ask him, but this is HER investigation, so she should portray a catwoman. And yes, yes, just like the caption in Dontsova’s book was “and the gardener kills”, that’s how it is here, the investigation is underway... However, you’ll read it and find out for yourself who is helping whom, and what they’re helping to do. The next incident concerns Alice. Well, my God, what kind of nonsense with sexual slavery, it was all clear that the girl was dying, and if she was not helped, she would be a corpse. The author is great, he has developed the plot well, but we also need to work on the little things and remove absurd elements that raise nothing but questions.

The plus is that it was not boring to read, and the story of both main characters was fascinating, a kind of puzzle, and if you remove those unnecessary things that I mentioned above, it would be ideal. I thought that there would be an ordinary, classic love story, without any branches, fortunately an element was introduced - a telephone, around which the story could be twisted. And this whole sequence of actions, logic, supporting each other is worth a lot. And what colorful places flashed in America, in England, in Paris. Already a kind of mini-trip. And the heroes themselves seemed to me to be very nice people, who are not chasing fame, this period is already far behind and only the brightest and best lies ahead. You can't deny this to the heroes. What about love for children? The position of the father after the divorce is very well shown here, the fact that dad and mom do not pull the blanket over themselves, who is better and who is worse, they have maintained quite friendly and warm relations. And the fact that you should never make hasty and unfounded conclusions. But, I will say one thing, even if the betrayal had not happened then, it would have happened at another time. Because it is impossible to impress the public forever with your novel, your fortune. Then you get tired of it and want something else. For Jonathan, this was a step towards a new life, towards a revision of values. And even if he had a chance to return everything back, I’m not sure that he would change anything.

The ending remained open for me, because it’s impossible to just throw away half the characters. At a minimum, there should be something more, some kind of continuation, some kind of justification, how they dealt with the situation, did Madeleine stop blaming herself and did she make the right decision about her future? As a reader, I will say that yes, I still hope for a successful outcome behind the scenes. Yet the essence of all this is clear to everyone - he and she in the face of danger, about how relationships should be built correctly. Loving people do not try to outdo each other, they successfully complement each other.

To be the center of attention at a costume party and catch admiring glances, you need a chic suit. An excellent option would be the image of an angel with large beautiful wings. These wings are often used for photo shoots. You can also dress up your child in a little angel costume for a festive party in kindergarten. This article contains templates for angel wings and several master classes on how to make angel wings with your own hands.

Templates and materials

Such a beautiful detail of the image of an angel can be made from all kinds of available materials. The base for them is most often made of cardboard. The cardboard is then decorated with materials that look like feathers. Elastic bands are attached to the back of the wings to make it easy to put on the shoulders.

Another base option is a rigid wire frame. It is bent into the desired shape and covered with elastic fabric. Then the base is also decorated.

By using your imagination, you can come up with an original decor for the base. The main thing is that the weight of such wings is not too heavy.

Templates can be simple in shape. The main emphasis is on the feathers themselves.

Or a multilayer openwork pattern is cut out, the shape of which looks like almost finished wings.

The most natural decoration is, of course, feathers. You can buy a boa and glue feathers from it to the template.

In feather pillows, you can choose light feathers, grease the template with glue and pour feathers onto it. They will stick well and quickly.

You can also ask people who keep pigeons, but they are unlikely to have the required number.

Therefore, they make imitation feathers from satin fabric, paper, tracing paper, cardboard, fabric ruffles, napkins and other available materials.

Feather wings

Let's create a classic version of feather wings for an angel costume. These wings are perfect for a small child.

To make wings, you need to prepare plastic, a piece of chintz, transparent glue, feathers, and elastic bands.

Cut out a wing template from plastic binders. We glue chintz, also cut according to the template, onto the plastic. You can make a frame from wire and glue chintz parts onto it. The effect will be the same. We make two holes at the base and insert elastic bands. Before making holes, you need to attach the wings to the back and mark the location of the holes.

We cover the edges of the wings with feathers so that the wire frame is not visible.

We sort the feathers by length and glue them in rows from bottom to top, from long to short.

We cover the edges at the top with down feathers.

The results are very realistic wings.

Making from fabric

Wonderful wings are made from fabric ruffles.

Let's prepare cardboard, paper for gluing the back side of the wings, elastic bands for fastening, glue and circles of fabric, tape for connecting the wings.

Cut out a template from cardboard.

Using the template, we cut out the parts from paper with a margin around the edge.

Cover the cardboard with paper. We make holes and insert elastic bands.

We take circles of fabric in the center to form soft, uniform folds.

Starting from the bottom, glue the fabric to the cardboard base.

The result is fluffy wings.

We fasten them with ribbon, and the fabric angel wings are ready.

Another master class on fabric wings. Light and airy wings are made from organza.

To make them you will need rigid wire, nylon or tulle, organza, scissors, thread, and a needle.

The frame is made from wire.

The frame is covered with tulle or nylon mesh. We fasten the parts with wire, which we also glue. We put wide elastic bands on the connection that will be worn on the shoulders.

Strips are cut from organza, and fringe is cut from one edge. The strip is folded and sewn to the frame, starting from the bottom.

The result is delicate airy wings.

Paper product

Huge angel wings can be decorated with paper feathers.

To work, we need to prepare simple cardboard for the base, paper, nightlights, glue and elastic bands.

The template is cut out to the desired size and transferred to thick cardboard.

The diagram shows the principle of gluing feathers of different sizes.

We cut out a lot of feathers and bend them lengthwise.

Glue the feathers in rows.

We make two holes on each wing. We insert an elastic band into them. We mask the holes with feathers.

We fasten the wings. We also mask the junction.

When finished they will look like this.

Napkin wings

Angel wings decorated with napkins are tender and airy.

To create them you need ceiling tiles. It can be replaced with cardboard covered with paper. We will also prepare white napkins, scissors, an awl, elastic bands, and glue.

We cut out the wings according to the template. We make holes in them for attaching rubber bands.
